On November 23, 2025, following STARD’s first Beach Clean-Up as part of its Dune Restoration Initiative for Atlantic Beach, SC, Kidogo Farms co-owner Alissia Matthews treated STARD board members, event sponsors, and clean-up participants to a delicious tea tasting by serving a variety of Roselle teas grown on her farm in Georgetown, SC. In keeping with STARD’s mission to preserve the Gullah Geechee culture within the historic coastal community of Atlantic Beach, she provided an informative education on the attributes and benefits of teas made from the dried petals of the Hibiscus sabdariffa plant and made them available, along with providing recipes.
